Monkey see. Monkey do

This I have knitted just for me to keep me warm in the windy edinburgh winter when i have to make the long journey to Uni. I'll be the coolest kid on campus oh yeah! Knitting the second ear hurt my brain as i had to do it backwards to make the right side on the right side. Pattern is http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTsockmonkey.html wool is sirdar click in mitten (great name there) and stylecraft special chunky in black white and lipstick

Knit log- Supplemental

Ok in the style of all good knitting blogs here is a picture of my stash. I bought a second box today to accomodate all the wool and assorted gubbins i have accumulated since i started this knitting lark which i might point out was less than a month ago, which given the amount of stuff a little worrying. The large stack of needles in the right hand box deserves a big shout to my gran who donated her entire collection to me meaning i should hopefully not need to ever purchase any straight needles and also a good number of dps.

The pain the pain

Here we have little slippery type things (and my feet). These as my mother rightly pointed out were actually the first things i started but have only just finished due to starting other things, hence my finish one thing before starting another rule. I had the right one finished like last week sometime possibly before that but the left one i have more or less just done in its entireity in the past 12 hours and my right arm feels like it may fall off at the elbow. The pattern is Turkish Delight by Jean Moss and i used artesano alpaca wool in dusky black, damson, lilac and teal. As the pattern stated that it fitted an "average womans foot" and as previously stated, and you may be able to tell from the pic, i dont exactly have average sized feet so i had to make em a bit longer.

A slight detour

In blatant disregard of my recently decided finish one thing before i start another rule, I knitted a penguin. In my defense time was against me, twas my mates birthday last week and i got him a penguin sponsership at the zoo, basically rent a penguin for a year and i just happened to be browsing patterns the other day and came across this pattern and thought ah ha the very thing thus i went out yesterday and got the wool and thus it was created. I am quite chuffed with myself as its the most complicated thing i have done and i learned a new tecnique (short row shaping) The pattern is http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTpasha.html i used patons fab dk in black yellow and cream (cos i couldnt get white). I also made use of the fact that i fecked up the stocking stich at one point so it has a wee ridge on his head which kinda fits with it being a rockhopper, to add to the effect i added the little yellow strands around the head.

Floof, part one

First off apologies for the crappy picture, my digital camera leaves a little to be desired. This is a scarf i have knitted for my mum seeing as she taught me to knit and all she may as well reap the benifits. Its purple tho i dunno how well that shows up in the picture and very fluffy.
I didnt use a pattern just a big rectangle in garter stich the outer sections are some random wool i got in a book shop for a squid and the middle is Wendy Shimmer shade no 2047.

Variations upon a Theme

Booties pair number 2, i think i prefer these ones, they were the second pair i did so was more clued up to what i was doing and there a better colour. I did these in an evening, which really goes to show what you can do when you put your mind to it and find yourself without the internet (no my parentals arent living in the dark ages they were in isp transfering limbo). I am so taken by these i am tempted to try and scale up the pattern to make a pair that will fit me and i have stupidly big feet! Both booties and the mittens were knitted with this pattern http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/abctree.html an using random baby acrylic wool that my mum happened to have.

Oh the cliche!!

These my first completed items ( i have no attention span thus have many things on the go at once). These are fairly obviously a pair of booties and mittens. Yes its cliched knitting booties but my mum's collegue just had a babby and i was staying at the parentals house was on my own and didnt have my "main" knitting with me so decided to knit something small and quick and these are the results.
