Damama Hat and pattern

I've been promising my mum a hat now for some time (since she taught me to knit in fact) and finially she will get one. This came about by chance as i found 1 ball of this yarn in the bargain bin in John Lewis and purple is her favourite colour. I thought i'd give it a go in a lacy pattern mainly cos i was worried about yarn amount as it turns out there is enough left certainly for another repeat of pattern. anyway here it is and the pattern:

I knitted up your hat, (I know it's an old post, but I found it through an archive of free patterns) and I love the lace pattern! The brim is perhaps a tad small, but I think it will stretch; I had misgivings, as it looks like a child's hat, but it works for an 18 year old womanish being.
I might suggest for someone with a larger head to add a few more stitches - I'm really small, and it barely fits me.
Also, the decreases at the top knitted up funny for me. Probably my fault, though - I don't pay enough attention while knitting, so it's a miracle the lace pattern turned out halfway decent looking.
Anyway, overall good pattern, and I bet your mom was really pleased!
